This however is a very subjective guide and are not specific facts, just my own experiences playing the game and sharing my opinion.

Everyone will ultimately have a unique experience so there’s not really a definite right or wrong way to use any PUBG Weapon.

It is also not a super statistical guide, but I have referred to some important stats here and there to better explain my point.

The aim is to give you practical PUBG weapon tips that you can use and make it engaging for readers, gamers and streamers.

So if you have any suggestions or interesting insights please feel free to share them in the comments.

Enjoy!

Assault Rifles

The assault rifles are the most balanced of all the weapons in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, mainly because of it’s capabilities to be used over almost any range.

Most of their statistics fall between the sniper rifles and the SMG’s. Assault rifles are best used over medium ranges and has damage ratings lower than snipers, but higher than SMG’s.

They are the best primary weapons to that you can have in any loadout and take home the Chicken Dinner!

Here are my PUBG Assault Rifles guide:

AKM

pubg weapon guide akm - nochgames

The AKM assault rifle is probably the best weapon to use right out of the box, meaning it is awesome even without any attachments.

It has a 30 round standard bullet capacity and uses the 7.62mm rounds that can do quite a bit of damage when used correctly. There are only 3 attachment points on the AKM, the muzzle, sights and magazines.

PUBG’s AKM also has 2 firing modes you can use in combat, the single shot and auto firing modes.

Good

  • Most powerful assault rifle in PUBG, except for the Groza (which only comes in the airdrops).
  • The AKM is the best weapon to use right out-of-the-box.
  • Best at medium-long ranges using the single shot fire.

Being the most powerful assault rifle, equaling the Groza with 48 damage points, it does more damage than its counterparts that uses the 5.56mm ammo per shot.

The best use for the AKM is doing so over medium to long range using the single shot firing mode. It has a decent bullet speed so you can also easily stick a 4x scope onto it to take out targets at range.

Bad

  • The AKM has much more recoil compared to the other assault rifles.
  • It has a slow firing rate which makes it not the best weapon to clear out buildings.

With more power comes more recoil and the AKM has plenty, so if you want to you it in automatic mode it is best to do so with a Red Dot or 2x scope to keep it under control.

Another bad thing about the AKM, is that it has the highest time between shots and is not the best weapon if you want to clear out buildings.

The other guy might just out-shoot you with a bullet and yes that does happen.

M16A4

pubg weapon guide m16a4 - nochgames

The M16A4 is a very popular gun in the real world and has been used for a while by many military teams.

It has a bullet capacity of 30 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. Just like the AKM, this weapon only has 3 attachment points.

The muzzle at the front, the sights on top and the extended or quickdraw magazines. The PUBG M16A4 version only has a single shot and burst firing mode, with firing 3 shots per burst.

You might think that the burst mode is useless, but you will definitely change your mind once you mastered it. The M16A4 has the fastest firing rate of all the assault rifles and at close range, that 3 bullet burst shots can save your round.

Good

  • The M16A4 has the fastest bullet speed of all the assault weapons in PUBG.
  • It has the best long range stability or lowest recoil of all PUBG assault rifles.
  • You could easily use it with a 6x scope to take out enemies at long range, not anymore though.

The best thing about this gun is it’s initial bullet speed and time between shots, making it perfect for taking out targets at long range.

It has the quickest time between shots of all the AR’s, which makes it the perfect choice when using it for close range combat in burst fire mode.

Bad

  • The burst mode is great, but it has no automatic mode.
  • The M16A4 has the highest rate of fire, but with only burst mode you need to click 4 times to reach it’s full potential.

Although it has great range, bullet speed and firing rate, the only place where it loses out to the typical sniper is the lower damage.

You will have to hit your enemy a few times at long range to get the better of them.

M416

pubg guns m416 - nochgames

The M416 is viewd as the ultimate tactical rifle of all the assault rifles, because it has the most modifications and customizations.

Like the other AR’s, it has a standard magazine of 30 bullets and is using the 5.56mm ammunition.

Like I said, this weapon has all the attachments and getting them all may take some looting. It takes 5 attachments in total, starting in front with the muzzle, on top for the sights, on the lower rail, the stock at the back and the magazine attachments.

The PUBG M416 comes with 2 firing modes, single and automatic modes. It is an awesome weapon to play with and has the highest damage per second rating of all the PUBG assault rifles.

Good

  • The M416 has the highest damage per second of all assault rifles.
  • It’s a very good all round weapon to use.
  • Most modifiable assault rifle, the only AR with 5 attachment points.

Given the M416’s bullet speed and time between shots, it has the highest damage per second of all the assault rifles that you can loot on the map.

It’s second only to the mighty Groza, which only comes in care packages.

It is a balanced weapon, with high damage, close, medium to long range capabilities and its modifications that can make it even more fun to play with.

Bad

  • Don’t really stand out in something specific.
  • The M416 assault rifle is great, but it can take some time to find all the attachments.

All this is great, but it can sometimes be hard to find in just any building. It is more likely to spawn in the more dangerous places around the map, which can be populated with more opponents.

So be careful.

SCAR-L

pubg weapon guide scar-l - nochgames

Most players, gaming blogs and YouTubers say the SCAR-L is the best PUBG assault rifle.

So what makes it so great, well it’s probably because it has the best stability and controllable recoil so you can be a little bit more trigger happy.

It also has a 30 round bullet capacity, using the most popular AR ammunition, the 5.56mm rounds.

The SCAR-L has 4 attachment points, so it can also be decently modified, if you manage to find all the mods. It has the muzzle in front, the sights on top, the lower rail attachments and magazine possibilities.

It also comes with single and automatic firing modes, which are both very fun to use.

Good

  • The SCAR-L is a great weapon, whether you can find all the attachments or not.
  • It has the lowest recoil of all the PUBG AR weapons, which makes it easier to use in auto firing mode.
  • You can even use it in auto with some scopes like the 2x, 3x and 4x.

With its relatively high bullet speed, fast firing rate and superior stability to the other AR’s, the SCAR-L can even be fairly accurate in automatic mode with a 4x scope on top.

This makes it very dangerous over medium ranges and if you use it correctly it can definitely help you win a round.

Bad

  • It has the slowest bullet speed of the 5.56mm assault rifles.
  • The SCAR_L also has the lowest damage per second of all AR’s (that’s why the recoil is much better).

Keeping all this in mind, finding all the attachments can be time consuming, especially if the blue circle isn’t making it any easier.

Another interesting fact is that the SCAR-L has the lowest damage per second of all the assault rifles which can cost you in close quarter combat if you’re up against an opponent with another faster AR.

SCAR-L Attachments

Groza

pubg weapon guide groza - nochgames

The lightning fast Groza is an airdrop-only weapon that you’ll only find in care packages, so you will not find it anywhere in the world.

Which is fair, because it is a beast!

Like all the AR’s in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, it has a 30 bullet capacity that uses the 7.62mm rounds, with 3 attachment points, the muzzle, the sights and magazine extensions.

The PUBG Groza has a single and auto firing mode, but you’ll mostly use the automatic mode as it’s not that great at longer ranges.

Good

  • The Groza is a super fast weapon, with the shortest time between shots.
  • A very powerful close quarter combat assault rifle.

The best feature of the Groza is undoubtedly it’s super fast firing rate, which is faster than all the other assault rifles.

Couple this with it’s high damage and in close quarter combat this thing can become unstoppable.

Try to fire in short bursts to keep the recoil under control. This will help you hit your target more consistently, meaning you’ll win the fight.

Bad

  • It’s a crate only weapon
  • The Groza is a powerful weapon with a lot of recoil.
  • Not a long range weapon like the other AR’s.
  • You’ll need a lot of 7.62 ammo

Even though it has exceptional speed and power, it gets terribly unstable over longer distances so using a 4x scope would be not the best idea.

It also doesn’t seem to be too accurate when you fire it from the hip and can let you end up wasting precious bullets, which is another small downside.

You’ll need a lot of bullets to feed the Groza.

Groza Attachments

AUG A3

pubg weapon guide aug a3 - nochgames

The AUG  is an Assault Rifle, very similar to the M416 in almost all capacity. The only difference is that the AUG A3 has a little bit easier to handle. It has 4 attachment points and is using the 5.56mm rounds in PUBG, which has the same damage rating than all the other 5.56mm rifles.

Where can you find the AUG A3 in PUBG? Unfortunately it is an airdrop-only weapon, so if you really want to get it you will have to fight for it.

Good

  • Great for medium range combat
  • Good handling, very similar to the M416

Bad

  • Slow reload time
  • Slower firing rate compared to other AR’s
  • Not effective for long range battles
  • Airdrop only weapon

AUG A3 Attachments

SMG’s

The SMG’s in PUBG are best used over shorter distances for a more close quarter combat style of play, like between buildings within one of the towns.

They have lower damage than the AR’s, but mostly has a higher rate of fire. At the start of the round you can easily out-shoot an enemy if they didn’t have enough time to find armor.

Later in the round a SMG are playing more of a support role, rather than being your primary weapon, because more players would have found an assault rifle or be more looted up with a set of armor.

That being said, there are many different PUBG loadout combinations you can use that best fit your play style and the situations you find yourself in.

UMP9

pubg weapon guide ump-9 - nochgames

The UMP9 submachine gun are basically the bridge between the other SMG’s and the assault rifles, for me it is the best PUBG SMG. It offers lower recoil than the assault rifle and have a better range than most of the SMG’s.

Equipped with a 30 round magazine loaded with the 9mm ammunition, it’s a great weapon for taking down enemies quickly at short range (30-50m). This weapon also comes with 3 firing modes, single fire, burst mode and full auto which could be used in different ways (most likely which works best for you).

It is great to use in urban areas and gives you a bit more breathing room when it comes to magazine size. The KRISS Vector has only 13 round to start with and the Micro Uzi 25.

It has 4 attachment points (muzzle, sights, lower rail and mags) and offers all 3 firing modes, single shot, burst (2 shots per burst) and auto firing mode.

Like the M416, the UMP9 can be seen as the tactical weapon in the SMG category.

Good

  • The UMP-9 in PUBG acts as a bridge between the assault rifles and SMG’s.
  • It has better recoil than rifles over medium distance to give the player more control.
  • The UMP-9 is best used over short-medium ranges, with the fastest bullet speed of all SMG’s.

Although the UMP9 has a slower rate of fire than the other SMG’s, it has the fastest initial bullet speed that make it possible to use with some scopes like the 2x and 3x. But in my opinion it is best used with the Red Dot to utilize it effectively.

With all the mods that you can attach, it’s a great gun to use in towns between buildings and support teammates. This will make you more flexible because you’re opponents are not too close, but also not too far.

Bad

  • You’ll need a lot of attachments to reach it’s full potential.
  • The UMP-9 damage is not too effective at ranges over 100m.
  • The higher damage points are balanced with a slower shots per second compared to the other SMG’s.

With all the good things, there are always situations where guns won’t perform as you wish them to.

The UMP-9 has a slower firing rate than other SMG’s, so if you’re caught in a really close combat situation, you might take more hits. Although it acts as a bridge between the SMG’s and AR’s it is not too effective for ranges over 100m, because of it’s low damage rating compared to the AR’s.

For this weapon to reach it’s ultimate potential, you’ll have to find all the attachments which could take long sometimes. It also depends on where you land.

KRISS Vector

pubg weapon guide kriss vector - nochgames

The KRISS Vector in PUBG is an interesting weapon and surely have a few special characteristics. The KRISS Vector only has a standard bullet capacity of 13 rounds, which are very low for a SMG, but can be equipped with an extended magazine to 25 rounds.

It uses the 45ACP ammunition which doesn’t spawn as much as the 9mm ammunition, but it shouldn’t be any problem really.

The Vector can take 5 attachments (muzzle, sights, lower rail, mags and stock) and also has all 3 firing modes the UMP9 has, single shot, burst (2 shots per burst) and an auto firing mode.

Good

  • The Vector’s damage in PUBG is quite high coupled with the fast shots per second.
  • It is best used for very close range combat.
  • Considering it’s high firing rate, the Vector has surprisingly low recoil.

This weapon is actually a beast, with its lighting fast firing rate (second only to the Micro Uzi) and high damage rating (basically the same as the UMP), it can take you down in the blink of an eye.

The KRISS Vector is a proper SMG which means it is best used in close quarter combat situations where you are in a good position.

Surprise your opponent or support a squad member while rushing enemies camping in buildings. With it’s high firing rate it has great stability and minimal recoil to make it more accurate.

Bad

  • The standard magazine only has 13 rounds.
  • Long range combat is extremely limited.
  • You need to hit your target the first time!

Well, with it’s fast firing rate you better be ready to reload a lot and pray you are behind cover. In full-auto mode, the Vector can empty it’s standard magazine in less than a second and with a 25 round magazine in only 1.4 seconds.

That’s quick!

It’s best not to use the KRISS Vector for long ranges, because it you will most likely fall short. Keep it under 50m to unleash it’s full potential and make sure you hit your target the first time!

Micro Uzi

pubg weapon guide micro uzi - nochgames

If you purely want the fastest weapon in Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, the Micro Uzi is the one. It takes 25 bullet capacity with a standard magazine and also uses the 9mm ammo.

Being so small, makes it possible to only attach 3 modifications (muzzle, a Micro Uzi stock and magazines), unfortunately not any sights. Well, not that you really need it.

Obviously the Micro Uzi has an auto firing mode, but also comes with a single shot mode, not that it has any real use due to the low damage it deals.

Good

  • The Micro Uzi  has the fastest firing rate of all PUBG weapons.
  • It’s very good for very close range combat.
  • You will find that it work best in the early game to ambush or surprise an opponent while they’re looting.

Like I said, the best thing about this weapon is probably it’s fast firing rate with 0.048s between shots.

The Micro Uzi is the perfect weapon to use at the very beginning to out-gun your opponents still trying to find an assault rifle or any gun for that matter. It’s not as powerful as say the shotguns, but with it’s rate of fire it deals a lot of damage fast at close range.

The best way to use it is would be in a surprise or ambush situation so your enemy don’t even know what hit them. You can use it when you run through buildings or towns where it’s more difficult to get taken out at a distance.

Bad

  • The PUBG Uzi becomes very uncontrollable over medium-long ranges.
  • You cannot attach any sights to the Uzi.
  • It’s not recommended for use against fully armored opponents, the damage is most of the time too little.

The Micro Uzi is strictly a close quarter combat weapon and can become quite uncontrollable at medium ranges.

You don’t want to get caught in an open field with only a Micro Uzi, so try to find a long range weapon before you move, if you can find one that is.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it struggles to take down enemies with full armor, because of lower damage. So in the end-game the Micro Uzi loses it’s value almost completely.

Tommy Gun

pubg weapon guide tommy gun - nochgames

The Tommy Gun was in the airdrop care packages at the start of PUBG, but are spawning around the map like all the other weapons after the September 2017 update.

It has a standard 30 round magazine, just to make it more comparable to most of the other guns. It uses the .45ACP bullets and comes with 3 attachment point (muzzle, lower rail and magazines).

The Tommy Gun in PUBG can not take any sights, so that makes it a close quarter combat only weapon. Don’t worry, because it has a lot of power and is actually not bad to play with.

You will mostly use it in full-auto, but also has a single shot firing mode. The Tommy Gun is more of a signature weapon than one that would win you rounds.

Good

  • It is the most powerful SMG in PUBG.
  • You should used it in close quarter combat to take out the enemy quickly, especially in early rounds or when playing between buildings.
  • When you find an extended magazine, you’ll have 50 bullets, which is a lot!

If you compare the damage across the SMG category, the Tommy Gun has the highest damage rating. It is best to use in close quarter combat between buildings with its high stopping power.

Make sure to take your enemy down quickly to avoid them returning fire with a possible more accurate weapon. A great asset is the magazine size, with 50 rounds and a high damage, it will be very powerful in the right hands.

Bad

  • You won’t be able use this weapon at ranges other than close combat, due to no sight attachments.
  • The Tommy Gun has a firing rate similar to assault rifles, which makes it slower than the other PUBG SMG’s.
  • It also has the slowest bullet speed, which means less damage per second.

Like I said earlier, you won’t be able to attach any kind of scope in the Tommy Gun which makes it really bad to use at range.

Yes, it has the highest damage of all the SMG’s, but has a time between shots that are more in the range of the assault rifles and a super slow initial bullet speed of only 280m/s.

Given that information it would most likely be a better choice to go with an assault rifle, well if you can find one.

Sniper Rifles

The ultimate damage dealers obviously goes to the sniper rifles, like the AWM, M24 and Kar98.

If you want to deal damage over long distances with a PUBG weapon, these should be in your loadout.

Sniper Rifles will most likely be complimented with an assault rifle or a SMG to give you the ability to play at shorter ranges as well. When playing in Squads or Duo, snipers are always a great benefit to provide cover and take out threats at long ranges.

Here is the breakdown comparing each PUBG Sniper Rifle.

AWM

pubg weapon guide awm - nochgames

The gun of all PUBG guns, the toughest and meanest in the game.

Yes you’ve guessed it, it’s the AWM Sniper Rifle. The AWM is the best sniper rifle in PUBG and has the highest damage of all the weapons.

Coming only in airdrops and uses it’s own unique ammunition, the AWM can make some problems disappear. That is, if you use it correctly.

It has a standard magazine capacity of 5 .300 Magnum bullets that can take down an enemy down with one shot to the head if they don’t have a level 3 helmet.

The PUBG AWM has a single shot firing mode due to it’s bolt action reloading style. It also comes with 4 attachment points (muzzle, mags, stock and sights) to make it even better.

Good

  • The AWM is most powerful weapon in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, you can kill an enemy with one shot.
  • You can use it over extremely long range and is perfect to use with scopes like the 6x, 8x and 15x.
  • It’s great to take out targets in open areas, like fields or the desert in Miramar.

The AWM is the weapon dealing the most damage in Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds.

This sniper rifle is best used over long distances with a really high bullet speed to hit your targets quickly. The AWM is perfect for any distance that won’t mean your death when you try to reload speed.

Surprising your opponents running in an open area while you sit far away on a hill and picking them of, can be a generate a satisfying feeling. You can attach up to an x15 scope on it to take that super long shots, but even a x8, 6x or x4 would do a pretty good job.

If you can also put a suppressor on the AWM, you’ll basically become unstoppable. So make every shot count.

Bad

  • It has a small magazine, with bolt action which makes it slow to reload.
  • Without a scope the AWM has a very limited use, it basically has no iron sights.
  • The Worst thing about the AWM is that your enemy has one!

The only drawbacks are that it could mainly be used over long range encounters, it’s quite useless at close range if you don’t have the correct sights.

Although it is immensely powerful, reloading can be the one thing that will slow you down when facing an enemy at close range and will eventually get you killed.

Also, fighting your way through and finding the AWM in the care package are only the first step. You better find a scope with it or have one in your backpack, because it basically has no iron sights.

I once swam a great distance to an airdrop in the ocean, only to find just the AWM with no scope. It was a big disadvantage, even against a medium range weapon like an UMP9.

But the worst thing about this weapon… is that your opponent has one!!!

M24

pubg weapon guide m24 - nochgames

The M24 are also an airdrop weapon and comes in second when ranked by damage, only to the AWM.

It’s basically the little brother of the AWM, with all the qualities you’d want in sniper rifle.

The M24 Sniper Rifle are using the 7.62mm ammunition and has a bullet capacity of only 5. It can also take up to 4 modification (muzzle, mags, stock and sights) and is a bolt action sniper rifle which only comes in a single shot mode.

Good

  • The M24 in PUBG is the bridge between the AWM and Kar98k.
  • It gets a quicker reload with a quickdraw attachment compared to other snipers, which can be a great advantage.
  • You will find that the M24 is very powerful in final circles, it gives your opponent very little time to respond if they get shot.

This weapon falls in the middle of the powerful AWM and the classic Kar98k Sniper Rifle, with almost all it’s stats.

The reload time on this rifle however, is faster than it’s bolt action counterparts and has a little bit less time between shots. Time is crucial in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as you probably already know.

This M24 is best used over long ranges and can be a game changer in the final few circles, because of it’s sheer power and bullet speed. Its great to hit an enemy and take them down with another weapon, because of the damage that has been dealt.

Bad

  • The M24 has a really big muzzle flash which makes it easy to get spotted.
  • It also doesn’t has any real iron sights like the AWM.
  • It’s a popular very popular PUBG gun, so many people will be at the drops to try and get it.

Unlike the other sniper rifle in PUBG, the M24 has a massive flash when fired and can more easily reveal your position. So unless you get a flash hider or suppressor for this rifle, you got to take calculated shots rather than just fire when you see someone.

It also is not very good at closer range in 3rd person if you get caught off-guard and has no real iron sights like the AWM. Well that’s because it’s a sniper rifle and not an AR right!

You should be prepared to fight for it at the air drops, because it is an awesome sniper rifle to play with. When the drop is close and you can get in and out quickly, make sure to go for it. You might just find the M24.

Kar98k

pubg weapon guide kar98k - nochgames

The sweet old classic Kar98k is a great weapon if you can master it.

It comes with a bolt action style and can take 5 bullets and cannot take any magazine attachments. The Kar98k in PUBG uses the 7.62mm ammunition, the same as most of the higher damage snipers and assault rifles.

It can only take 3 attachments, probably due it’s age, which are the basics (muzzle, stock for the Kar98k bullet loops or cheek pad and sights).

Good

  • The Kar98k is the only real sniper that spawns in-game around the world.
  • It’s a highly effective long range weapon.
  • You can best use the Kar98k against targets in open areas when you’re in good cover.

The Kar98k is basically the only real sniper rifle that spawns in-game and can be very powerful in the right hands.

This gives an advantage to most players who uses it, because you don’t have to loot an airdrop and it is highly effective at long range. If you can find a suppressor for this weapon, you will have a great advantage if you can take down targets running in open fields.

Bad

  • Like most sniper rifles it has a bolt action makes it slow, to fire and reload
  • The Kar98k falls a little short against fully armored enemies.
  • It take some time and practice to get used to the PUBG Kar98k.

The reload time on the Kar98 can sometimes take a while, due it’s bolt action and that it doesn’t have a magazine like the other rifles.

This weapon will take some time to get used to in order to fully utilize its ability, so you’ll need a lot of practice to experience it’s full strength

Keep in mind that the Kar98k is not as powerful as the other sniper rifles against fully armored opponents. So it can take a few shots to eliminate your enemy if they have like level 2 armor and are quite at a distance. Going for head shots will be your best bet.

Overall the Kar98k is a great weapon to play with and it’s really satisfying to get a kill with it.

VSS

pubg weapon guide vss - nochgames

The VSS is an interesting little weapon that is sort of a sniper, but with an automatic firing mode. Weird right!

You’ll only use auto mode when you’re forced to, like when there’s no time to aim or in close range combat.

It takes only 10 bullets in a standard magazine and uses the popular 9mm ammunition, the same as some pistols and SMG’s. The VSS has only 2 attachment points (stock and mags) given that it already has a x4 scope on top and suppressor.

Good

  • The PUBG VSS is a ready to go sniper rifle, it has a scope and suppressor.
  • It’s most effective at medium range.
  • With it’s subsonic silencer it can be hard to detect a VSS at close ranges, which is great when using in the end circles.

One of the best things about this weapon is that you don’t need to loot to find the most important attachments, so it can save you a lot of time.

The best use for the VSS is over medium and even shorter ranges due to it’s very low bullet speed. Due to the medium range capability and super silent suppressor, using this gun in the end game can make a huge difference.

The VSS is very hard to hear, even at close range, so if you have a good spot at the end circles you can use this advantage over your opponents.

It can work well in squad or duo to have that stealthy option always surprising your enemy from an unknown position.

Bad

  • The VSS is very poor at targeting moving enemies at long range, due to it’s slow bullet speed.
  • Surprisingly, it has the lowest stability in the game of all the snipers, even with the little power.
  • You won’t have a variety of functions with the VSS.

What makes this weapon bad is when you try to use it as a traditional sniper, targeting enemies over longer distances.

Well, the VSS is really bad when it comes to long range, especially if you’re trying to hit a moving target.

Compared to other weapons it has very low stability mostly due to the suppressor trying to keep your shots so quiet. When you find this gun, you’ll always think about leaving it, because it can be a difficult gun to use.

The main reason to leave the VSS is that it doesn’t has a variety of functions, so is best used for what it’s made for, over medium range with stealth in mind.

Winchester Model 1894

pubg weapon guide win94 - nochgames

An old school rifle with a mean punch, the Winchester Model 1894. The Winchester is using the .45mm rounds and is only available on the Miramar map in PUBG. It’s a good weapon in terms of performance, especially in the early stages of a round, but has no attachments points for scopes which makes it kind of useless.

The best way to use this weapon is at medium range and near cover, like buildings, rocks or ruins if you can. With the open areas on Miramar, it will be difficult to use it for long range. Well, it might just save you a few times so try it out!

Good

  • Powerful rifle
  • Great at medium range

Bad

  • No scope attachment, although classified as a rifle
  • Only available in Miramar

DMR’s – Designated Marksman Rifle

Just like the assault rifles are between snipers and SMG’s, the DMR’s are basically between the assault rifles and sniper rifles.

They have a higher rate of fire than snipers and a higher range than AR’s, but with a smaller bullet capacity. Most of the DMR weapons can be greatly modified to enhance their capabilities to make them even more dangerous against opponents.

Some DMR Rifles can be hard to master if you are new to the game, mainly because they are designed for a more specific purpose and not being an all-round weapon like the assault rifles.

In recent updates it became possible to attach both sniper and AR attachments to the DMR weapons. This is great as you have twice as much chance to get a fully modified weapon than before. That is exactly how the DMR’s should be used, modified!

SKS (DMR)

pubg weapon guide sks - nochgames

The SKS is a Designated Marksman Rifle or better known as a DMR. It has a standard bullet capacity of only 10 rounds and are using the 7.62mm ammunition.

You can find it spawning all over the map of Player Unknown’s Battleground and are high modifiable with a total of 5 attachments available (sights, muzzle, stock, lower rail and mags).

The SKS in PUBG is a weapon to get used to, mainly because it’s between an AR and a Sniper Rifle. It only has a semi-auto firing mode, which means it has a faster firing rate than the snipers, but slower compared to the assault rifles.

Good

  • The SKS is best for medium range situations and is also somewhat usable in close combat scenarios.
  • DMR’s are between assault and sniper rifles.
  • It has long range, high damage and high firing rate which are a great combination if you can take control of the SKS.

The best way to fully unleash the potential of the SKS, are using it for medium to long range situations. Perfect for assisting a teammate trying to flank your enemy and take them out while they are pinned down.

Don’t get me wrong, you can also use it at close range if you can shoot fast enough before your opponent has a chance.

What makes the SKS rifle unique is that it has decent range combined with a higher firing rate and more stability than most of the assault rifles. The SKS can be a great addition to the diversity when playing squads or duo.

So in the right hands it can be quite dangerous.

Bad

  • The SKS is not as good at super long distances. You’ll be wasting more bullets if you keep missing your target.
  • Shooting while you’re moving can be hard, so you need to stand still to get the best accuracy.
  • The SKS is not a weapon with a variety of functions.

Being between the sniper and assault rifles, using the SKS over very long distance will most of the time be a waste of bullets.

Another downside to this weapon and generally any DMR kind of rifle are that for you to be accurate, you’ll have to stand still. That is a problem if you do not have enough cover to keep your opponents from taking you down more easily, but remember it when you face someone with a SKS.

The SKS is a great weapon and all, but it falls way behind when it comes to having a variety of functions. With that said, you should think what exactly you will use it for.

MK14 (EBR)

pubg weapon guide mk14-ebr - nochgames

The MK14 is another airdrop weapon, which also falls in the DMR category, but are actually an EBR, Enhanced Battle Rifle.

It’s a more hardcore version of the SKS. It uses the 7.62mm ammunition and have a 10 round bullet capacity that can deal a lot of damage. The MK14 has 4 attachment points (sights, muzzle, stock and mags) to get it to it’s full potential.

Something interesting to note is that the MK14 has both semi-auto and full-auto firing modes which makes it more versatile than the SKS, that’s why you should fight for it at the airdrops.

Good

  • The MK14 is a mid-power rifle which has increased stability with a tripod when you go prone.
  • It has a full auto mode, which can be very helpful in close combat situations.
  • You can best use the MK14 for medium-long range

You have the best of both worlds with the MK14, making it super dangerous in full-auto with it’s high damage and with it’s long range capability.

A unique feature is that when you go prone, a tripod folds out, making the weapon more stable for that long range shots. It is best to use the MK14 for medium to long range, taking your targets down quickly.

The damage per second on this weapon is insane compared to other rifles, well until the 10 bullets up (20 with an extended magazine).

Bad

  • You only have a standard 10 bullet magazine.
  • You will have to fight for it at the drops.
  • Don’t get caught up against one of these, they’ll tear you apart.

Which brings me to the few drawbacks the MK14 has.

It comes standard with a 10 round magazine, so it will take less than a second to empty it. Also take note that it has quiete a lot of recoil, making it harder to control. You will have to hit your target the first time when you’re facing them in close quarter combat.

It’s already bad enough to fight at the airdrops for the MK14, but another thing is that you don’t want to get caught off-guard with someone using this weapon.

Just find cover and plan wisely to not give away your position, especially over that medium ranges.

Mini-14

pubg weapon guide mini-14 - nochgames

The Mini 14 uses the 5.56mm ammunition and is a DMR. It has only 3 attachment points and is a great long range weapon to use, especially for beginners or players new to PUBG. You will also have a standard magazine holding 20 rounds and can be increased to 30 with an extended mag.

That is great compared to all the other DMR rifles, but the downside is that is has the lowest damage so make your shots count. One thing that really make the Mini 14 stand out is not only the magazine size, but it has a very high bullet speed which makes it easier to hit targets far away. The Mini 14 can be a really fun PUBG weapon to play with.

Good

  • Fastest bullet speed, thus great for using on long range
  • Great handling for beginners, even at closer distances
  • Large magazine size

Bad

  • Low damage compared to other DMR’s
  • Only 3 attachment points

SLR

pubg weapon guide slr - nochgames

The SLR is a relatively new PUBG weapon and is a DMR which uses the 7.62mm rounds, the same as the SKS. This gun, like most DMR’s, is something getting used to with high recoil and long distance shots. But if you can master the SLR, it is definitely a great weapon to use in PUBG.

It has 4 attachment points and have the highest damage rating of all the spawnable DMR weapons in PUBG. Now there really are a few weapons to choose from that fit your play-style. The SLR might just be perfect for you.

Good

  • Strongest DMR that spawns
  • Very similar to the MK14
  • Best to use over medium to long range

Bad

  • No grips which means more recoil
  • Harder to use if you are new to the game

SLR Attachments

Sights – holographic, red dot, 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x and 15x

LMG – Light Machine Guns

There are only two LMG weapons in PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds at the moment and we’ll hopefully see some more in the future. These weapons are absolutely beasts due to their moderately high damage, fast firing rate and super large bullet capacity. The best thing to use these weapons for are to destroy vehicles quickly, if you have enough bullets.

M249

pubg weapon guide m249 - nochgames

The M249 is one of only two Light Machine Gun in the game so far and if you want it, raid an airdrop! This weapon is insane mainly due to the fact that it has a 100 bullet capacity.

It uses the 5.56mm ammunition which is on the other hand the more abundant ammo of the two larger rounds.

The M249 only has one 1 attachment point on top for sights and has a full-auto firing mode. To be expected from such type of guns.

Good

  • The M249 is really powerful, with high bullet speed and little time between shots and it has a 100 bullet magazine.
  • It is great for destroying vehicles quickly.
  • Surprisingly good at longer ranges when going prone with the tripod.

The best things about the M249 is undoubtedly the damage amount of damage it can deal. It has a little less damage that an AKM for instance, but has a super high bullet speed of 915m/s and a time between shots of 0.075 seconds. Multiply that by a 100 and you get a few players worth of damage.

Considering the power of this weapon, it has a controllable recoil when playing with it. Just don’t go all nuts when you try and hit someone at medium range, then it’s better to fire in bursts rather than keeping that trigger down.

Funny enough, the M249 also has a tripod that unfolds once you go prone to give that extra stability over longer distances.

Bad

  • At longer ranges, you should fire in bursts rather than in full-auto.
  • You will have to fight for it at the drops.
  • Don’t get caught up against one of these, especially in open areas!

Just think for a second. Yes the AWM has the highest damage rating in the game, but you only get shot at every 1.85 seconds and will only last 5 bullets if you’re lucky enough to get missed all the shots.

The last place you want to be caught against a M249 is a large open area, because you’ll have to face a 1 shot every 0.075s with a 100 bullets to go.

All I can say is good luck!

DP-28

pubg weapon guide dp 28 - nochgames

The DP-28 is the second LMG weapon in PUBG and also spawns on the map. It is exclusive to Erangel, because it’s a russian weapon. You will find that the DP-28 has a lot of recoil and can be tricky to get right when you first play with it, but has a decent damage rating and a large magazine.

It holds 47 bullets, is automatic only, with 1 attachment point and uses the 7.62mm rounds. The reload time on this weapon is really long, so don’t reload after firing 1 or 2 shots if an enemy is close. It is a great weapon to use in the early stages until you find another replacement or secondary weapon like an Assault Rifle or Sniper.

Good

  • Higher damage than the M249
  • Large bullet capacity at 47
  • Good over medium range and in the early game

Bad

  • High recoil
  • Long reload times

Shotguns

S12K

pubg weapon guide sk12 - nochgames

The S12K is a powerful close combat weapon and can work really well for clearing out buildings.

The come with a 5 round bullet magazine and is using the 12 Guage ammunition. It has 3 attachment point (sights, muzzle and mags) and only has a semi-auto shot firing mode.

The S12k have better reload speeds compared to the other shotguns which can also make them better against multiple enemies.

Good

  • Very powerful at close range, especially if you face more than one opponent.
  • It has a far better reload time compared to the other shotguns.

S1897

pubg weapon guide s1897 - nochgames

The S1897 shotgun also has a bullet capacity of 5 rounds and uses the standard 12 Gauge that all the shotguns use. It can take only 2 attachments, the bullet loops on the stock and a choke on the muzzle.

This PUBG weapon is best used at close range only and can take out an opponent with one shot if they don’t have any armor. The S1897 is a great weapon to clear buildings if you play in Solo or if you have a Squad that are supporting you with another gun.

Good

  • Very powerful at close range, great for clearing out buildings but hit the first time
  • Also good for shots a little farther than close combat with the choke

S686

The S686 shotgun has a bullet capacity of only 2 rounds and uses the standard 12 Gauge that all the shotguns use.

It can take only 2 attachments, the bullet loops on the stock and a choke on the muzzle. It’s a super strong shotgun and can easily take out an enemy at very close range. Best used to surprise a target playing in Solo, especially if you shoot both bullets.

You better hit your target the first time, because if you miss you’ll most likely be dead while you try to reload.

Good

  • Very powerful at close range, especially if you hit your enemy with both shots
  • Best used against a single opponent, solo play
